Dr Nichola Rew
Dr Nichola Rew completed her Master’s degree in Criminal Justice at Portsmouth University in 2008 and returned to Portsmouth in 2017 to start her Professional Doctorate under the supervision of Professor Becky Milne. She completed her Professional Doctorate in 2023 with her thesis exploring the traumatic impact, both on a professional and personal level, amongst police first responders to a UK terrorist attack. She is now working on developing findings from her research within the UK policing network.
Additionally, Dr Nichola is interested in the role of the ‘insider’ researcher within policing and academia and is an editorial board member of the College of Policing’s ‘Going Equipped’ academic journal.

Dr Rew's research is focused on victims of terrorism (both members of the public and those from policing) and trauma experienced after terrorism.
