Adrian Gates

Adrian Gates is a former Detective and Sergeant in An Garda Síochána, the police service in the Republic of Ireland. As an investigator, he specialized in serious and complex crimes. He was heavily involved in criminal investigation training design, delivery, and policy implementation. This includes the development and delivery of specialist interview training and a significant contribution to the development of a strategic interview policy in An Garda Síochána. He is responsible for introducing the Cognitive Interview to Criminal Investigations in the Republic of Ireland. Adrian is also a member of the International Investigative Interviewing Research Group (IIIRG) and the Portsmouth University Centre of Forensic Interviewing. A current doctoral candidate at the University of Portsmouth focuses on the evidential consistency of written records from interviews with suspects. He is the CEO of Mosney Unlimited Company and the managing director of insight interviewing.

Adrian is Managing Director of the recently formed Insight Interviewing Ltd. This Irish-registered company provides scientifically based, ethical investigative interviewing training and advice to the public and private sectors.
